I’ll start off by saying Cordoba was a half day trip as we were taking a private transfer with Not Just A Tourist from Seville to Cordoba. I think it was a great way to see another city without having to take a train transfer. We were between stopping in Cordoba or Rhonda but thought we’d get more time in this city!
It reminded me a lot of Seville with its charm and beauty! We arrived and started with a small walking tour through the city, pointing out historical building, courtyards, gardens and alleyways. I have to say I never get tired of seeing the beautiful architecture and unique ways locals decorate with florals and fountains.
We stopped for a quick snack to get fresh churros…and they were honestly the best I’ve ever had! We stopped at Mojaelchurro and talked to the lovely owner about her process while we watched.
And the highlight of our visit was of course the Mosque-Cathedral Monumental Site of Cordoba, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1984. Also referred to as the Mezquita because it was formerly a Mosque then becoming a Cathedral, this magnificent attraction has endless history. Not Just a Tourist arranged our private tour guide which we were amazed to learn was the same guide for Rick Steves himself! To say the tour wasn’t filled with information and stories would be an understatement…it was truly delightful.
